Wreaths Across America Dec 13th
« on: December 03, 2008, 09:52:13 AM »

Someone sent this to me...so thought I would pass it on...I know the LSR is going on this same day, but if you're not doing that ride, then maybe you could participate in this:

Wreaths Across America

A mission to remember those that did what they needed to do to protect our freedoms.

On December 13th, about 13,000 wreaths will be deployed at Houston National Cemetery. This will be the largest wreath laying ceremony ever in the nation. And only in Texas can we pull it off. The initial goal was every gravesite at HNC (about 53,000), however IKE got in the way, but the WAA-Houston group forged on and broke the record by doubling of all the wreaths nation wide with one cemetery here in Houston. Last year WAA sent 12,000 wreaths across the nation. This year they are sending about 13,000 just to Houston.

Now they need to deploy the wreaths. But first they must get there.

Part one: motorcycles only

On December 13th at dawn a convoy of 3 Tractor/Trailer trucks loaded with wreaths from Maine will leave Pasadena under the escort of Pasadena PD and Houston PD. Each truck will have a special motorcycle only rolling tribute on the journey to Houston National Cemetery. We would like all motorcycles (flags or not) to help us bring this load to its destination. This motorcycle ride will be filmed by KHOU and aired on Television.

Staging Location: 206 Shaver, Pasadena, Tx
Staging Time: 0530 hrs
Briefing: 0620 hrs
KSU: 0630 hrs

Part two: For all non-motorcycles:

Just after the arrival at HNC the wreaths will be deployed to the grave sites. The motorcyclist will join all those that already arrived at HNC by car, truck or bus. This will include active duty soldiers, reservist, national guard, Boy & Girl Scouts, ROTC, and any and everyone that can help. please invite your friends to help lay these wreaths.

The Ceremony start time will be announced shortly.

Wreaths Across America-Houston, is a non-profit 501C3 organization.

I know there many other events on this day/weekend. However this is a once in a life time record setting event.

If you don't love what you're doing, then don't do it.
Your chances of success are directly proportional to the degree of pleasure you derive from what you do.
