need a little help
« on: October 24, 2008, 04:21:27 PM »

my previous thread started with the bike not starting, well it still wont start.  when i bought the bike the right side bolt for the front seat was slightly stripped, well it became completely stripped.  i tried to use my extractor set but the extractor broke off inside the bolt.  i have since attempted to drill out the extractor but its "hardened" (it shouldnt have broke) and its breaking my drill bits.  does the seat have to be taken off to get to whereever it is the vacuum line hooks to.  i need to know where the line hooks to. if anyone in the mckinney area wants to help, please feel free to come show me.  thanks in advance

The vacuum line hooks to the front of the petcock and runs to a tee between the cylinders. I have seen it come off the petcock several times and off the tee once. You don't need to remove the seat to access that line. You should change your seat bolts to ball detent pins.

brad if you wanna come over it would be greatly appreciated.  and the only hose coming off my petcock runs up above the rear cylinder and disappears behind the frame under the seat.

What year is your bike?  The '03s have a fuel pump under the seat(I think they're under the seat).

its an 03, so what i can deduce is that im having a fuel pump problem, but i cant fix it till i get the damn seat bolt out, i keep breaking drill bits on the hardened extractor that broke off in the bolt

Billie, I just saw this...  you still having trouble?  I have a reverse drill bit that may work.  I can swing by tomorrow afternoon.  Let me know when works for you.  We can go ahead and due the seat mod.

Look for a small nipple on your petcock; it should be facing the front of the biike. There is a small (looks like about 1/8") vacuum line that should attach there. It runs to a tee between your cylinders. If that line is disconnected the bike won't run.

i appreciate the photos, but as brad can attest, my petcock looks similar to the one in the photo but it does not have that lince coming off the side, it has one line, that runs over the rear cylinder and into the frame under the seat.
