I pull up to the office which according to the centerpoint map was supposed to be restored yesterday and the block around my office is still out!  >:( >:( >:( This is bullchit!

Got my power back Sunday night around 8 PM, just started talking again, after about 6 days I reverted back to Neanderthal and could only grunt ;)

I spoke to Brian Saturday, he and his son were pulling wet insulation from under his house...man, a wet nasty itchy job. I got my Carpet out of my house and cut the sheet rock about 6 inches above the waterline so the inside of the walls could dry out and removed the wet insulation and sprayed the place down liberally with a bleach solution to inhibit mold and mildew growth.

I gotta tell ya though, the whole demeanor of the people there is amazing. They are truly resilient. I don't think I saw a single person that was sitting there whining. Everybody was working and laughing and cutting up and smiling. Sure there were a few down times but they all seem to have the "I'm not letting this beat me" attitude. Neighbors were helping neighbors, friends helping friends, and when you sat down to take a break it wasn't unusual for somebody driving by to ask if you needed ice or water or food.

Hats off to members of the Denton and Cedar Hill fire departments who were there taking fire calls so that the volunteers of Bridge city Fire and rescue could take some time to go take care of their own places. They were having lots of runs too as people began turning their electricity on and trying to find out what worked and what didn't.

Many of the BC fire and rescue were here rescuing people even though their own places were being inundated, many others secured their homes and came back to continue to help their neighbors... true dedication to community!

May their actions and attitude become examples of how to handle disasters instead of whining and b*tching about how someone else is not taking care of "ME".  Glad to hear that you live in a neighborhood of good people...but so sorry to hear that you suffered so much damage.

If you don't love what you're doing, then don't do it.
Your chances of success are directly proportional to the degree of pleasure you derive from what you do.

wait is a four letter word, losers wait for someone else to do for them, WINNERS , roll up their sleeves and get on with it. You and your neighbors are obviously WINNERS. Sorry for your losses but you will no doubt prevail ! Way to go! O0 O0 O0 O0

The storm must be over, I got internet back today!
Lots of good people got hit hard, I consider myself lucky. I have lived here 27 years and had 12 trees in my yard when I moved in. I now have none, all taken out by storms. Allstate is glad they are gone but I still won't buy flood insurance. O0
