Well, we are doing much better after finding a generator.  Lori found a guy at the Home Depot over on 290 & Spring Cypress that was trying to return the one he bought.  He never even opened it, so it was still brand new.  He waited there with Lori while I came from home with the cash to buy it from him.  He even gave us the original receipt (debit purchase), so that we could return it if something was wrong with it.  We got it home, filled it with gas, and she fired right up on the first pull!

We hooked up our septic pump yesterday and cleaned that bad boy out...smells better around here.

Just checked this morning, and our phone/DSL service is up...just gotta hook up one computer now, and we'll have Internet again.

I'm glad most of us are doing well.  My heart goes out to James (Tinman), Bryan (bgreer) & the others and their families during this time.  Remember "stuff" can be replaced (although it will still be difficult), but more importantly, that you all are safe.  If there is anything I can do, feel free to contact me & I'll do what I can.

Here in Bear Creek (Houston suburb in N.W. city limits) we did ok. Some of the neighborhood
is still without power (me included). You won't catch me complaining because the people at
CenterPoint Energy are doing as much as they can.
I have met more of my neighbors and have been amazed by how much everybody bends over
backwards to help out.
We have been plugged up to a generator for the last couple of days thanks to one of our new
friends. I knew them for two minutes and they were handing me an extension cord. I wanted
to give them gas money for the generator and they would not have it. Gotta do something
nice for them.
The day after the storm there was a pretty heavy down pour that flooded most of my block.
Luckily, we were spared. No water in the house.
The random acts of kindness that I have witnessed have suprised me. The wife and I are
happy to "pay it forward" and have done so by helping remove carpet from our neighbors
flooded home, sharing ice and food, and pretty much just trying to be there for our friends
and neighbors.
Every time I watch the news, I know just how lucky the wife and I really are. After seeing
Galveston, Bolliver, High Island, and others, you just have to count your blessings.
My hopes and prayers go out to those who did not end up as well as we did.

Great post, thanks for sharing and, yes, I pray that God bless those in need and despair. I am reminded of a great truth, it goes like this: "Don't worry about tomorrow, God is already there and in control." Take care amd know you are in others prayers.

Still no power at the house.   The houses across the street got power yesterday around 4pm.

But atleast we still have our house.   There are a lot of people that lost everything.  My prayers go out to them.

Just got power back yesterday evening.  I've been running a generator to power my tools to fix a 12' x 18' hole in my roof!  It doesn't like my air compressor.  LOL  I've got it framed, sheathed, trimed and just starting on the felt and shingles.  At work today - will be back on it tonight.  Hopa y'all fared better.

Bubba and I made it home today.  Spent a week in Dallas then went to the lake house at Toledo Bend when we got power there.  Lost the cover on the patio and 2 small storage buildings, some shingles on the shop, but the house looks to be OK.  Will know more after we have someone look at the roof on the house.  The patio cover went over the house and slid down the roof on the opposite side.  Looking to move to Cedar Park/Leander area.     I'm too old to go through another one of these.
