The Weekend Is Over....
« on: September 08, 2008, 08:29:40 AM »

...and I made it thru!  I passed!!  O0  I think Randy is just as excited as I am!

Not saying it was easy for anyone in our class of 12!  The heat was a big factor, esp on Saturday!  I was dead on my butt, Saturday night...I was in bed by 9:30!!

But everyone in the two classes passed, a couple (2) with perfect scores on the evaluation and 4 on the written exam.  All of us had a great time and although none of us knew one another, we all made friends with each other and helped each other.  It was great and alot of fun.  Many laughs!

I must say, you DO learn alot in a very short time!  The instructors are GREAT!  I had David and Tanya on the course.  Tanya helped a few of us that were having trouble with specific things...like cornering, quick-stops, etc.  Tanya even got on my bike with me on the back.  She wanted me to feel how it felt to lean in a turn properly. Once I got the feel for it, it was much easier!!  I never did master the "box"...only two out of 24 did!

Louie and David were our classroom instructors...Louie is alot of fun, but very serious and couldn't emphasize safety enough.

Louis (Pacrat)...I asked Louie if he remembered you and you said "hi"!  He told me that with the number of people that go thru the class, that if he DID remember you...it would not be a good thing!

Now comes the hard part...getting on my bike (the transition of going from a 250 to a 1300), building confidence and applying what I have learned.  I am going to take the process slow, but I am determined to accomplish being able to ride on that bike!!!  I am on my way!!!  O0

Many thanks to all of those who wished me well!  ;)

SWEEEEEEEEEEEET.  Congrats and keep at it.  Jennifers bike has been down so long that she's going to be starting over so make sure you ride it pretty often.

Not sure.. he retired on disability, I think from either HPD, or SD here.  At least that's the way I heard it.

The best thing to do is take your bike to a church or school parking lot (when they are closed) and just practice what you learned at the class for a couple of hours. You will be amazed at how quickly this will build up your confidence. O0

Good advice!  I puttered around school parking lots (when empty) and then went on to small suburban sidestreets. It will all 'come to you',, it just takes a little time!!!  CONGRATULATIONS!!!
