Don't forget to fill up your bathtubs with water. Also I heard that if the cell phone towers are out you may be able to still text supposably they work off of satellites.

Be safe

Cell phones are reliant on the towers, even texting.  But it is true that if you aren't able to get through because of CONGESTION in the lines, texting will probably still work.  The reason is that sending a text message doesn't require a dedicated line, but instead just sends a burst packet of data that can be squeezed in between other packets of data.

However, if the towers go completely down, nothing will work.

I was just talking to my neighbor, who works for an RV/camper dealership, and he said that if we lose power, he is authorized to go pick up an RV to bring to the house!  He offered it as a nice place to come in for some AC and a refrigerated beverage!

Things are already looking up!

I made a trip into Beaumont right before dark. The Neches river is almost out of it's banks down there and we havn't even had any rain yet. Pine Island Bayou which is the border between Jefferson and Hardin county is full to the brim...again, no rain yet. Never saw anything like it.  Really wierd to see. The wind just picked up here around dark. They are expecting Port Arthur to have as much or more storm surge than Galveston and Houston.
Randy called last night and was in North LA. and I help BGREER load up this morning and he was headed up that way John. I can't remember the name of the town. (His Mom's, but not the ranch if that tells you anything.

I'm fixing to bed down so I can get up at one and dance with Ike!  ;) ;D O0

Thanks Dusty. I knew you wouldn't leave. Hope you do well, and the neighbors don't take advantage of your hospitality and help this time out. If I was a praying type...I'd pray for you.  :o  ;D  O0

I spoke with Jim this evening and they are doing pretty well. He did tell me that he's looking to sell a nice "flat top" pickup, if anyone is interested?! He said he'll try to post tomorrow.
