Help! Recommend me a New Windshield
« on: September 04, 2008, 03:41:28 PM »

I bought my Memphis Fats back in 2002 and am now needing to replace it.  I am looking for something shorter/more custom for my '02 C.  I have been looking around at some of the websites but can't really find anything that has jumped out and grabbed me.  Some of the better looking windshields seem to be made for the newer models.  I am not sure why that is...

Anyway, recommend a windshield.  What are the cool kids wearing these days?  I know, cool would be to do without, so I guess I ain't "that" cool.  :-\

I suggest a clear one! One without all those nicks that look like glitter when the sun hits it just right.
It's not as easy as you think it is to be so helpful Brad.  :-*
I bought another 21" Memphis Fats cause I liked the first one so much. I was cool before cool was cool.  ;D

;D  If glitter in your windshield is cool, then I must be cooler than the other side of the pillow.   ;D

I like my National Cycle Deflector...part of the SwitchBlade series windshields (four to choose from).  I don't like the look of big windshields on a C model.

Here's a link for your model: http://shop.nationalcycle.com/perl/cycle/nresults2.html?search_model=hd-130

Thanks for the link.

I am not sure WindVest is even made anymore... It's a shame because they are sharp looking.

That is a pretty good looking windshield.  PM me your number and I'll swing by and look at it.

Did someone say "pic"?  :)

This is, by far, my favorite windshield for a C model.  It works perfectly at keeping the wind off the chest area, but giving plenty of air for keeping cool on the hotter days.  In fact, I almost exlusively use this shield...I own the Shorty, but hardly ever use it.  In these pictures, I have the mounts lower than where the directions said to put them.  The reason I did this was because there was quite a bit of distance in between the top of the headlight and the bottom of the shield, and it was causing a little more buffeting than I cared for.  I moved them down, and then carefully checked to make sure the mounts didn't hit the tank from full lock-to-lock.
