Gone dark today!
« on: July 06, 2008, 05:09:13 PM »

Went and done it.  Put the 205/60/16 on today.  Only rode around the block, but what a different ride.  Sure wants to put you straight up when going around corner slow, but seems like it's gonna be ok after getting used to it.  I will put it to the test this weekend with a ride to NM.  Balanced with 2 ozs. of dyna beads.

Welcome, welcome... did you get your cookie?  :)  If you hadn't found it already...

Dark side forum.  It's where we all lie to people who are thinking about putting on a car tire, and tell them how it works and how we never crash and die in horrible fire balls every time we ride.   O0 :D :D :D :D

falken.  probably not the tire of choice, but didn't have a lot of time to shop and had to get it pretty quick.  Not the tread pattern I'd like to have had, but it will work.

Me either... the other promises of the darkside were all true, tho... better miles, better handling, the adoration of wanton women.... but yet, there's a hole in my heart, a hole that's the same size as an oatmeal raisin cookie......

I am very interested in doing this when I need new tires,  don't know of a place around Alvarado that does it tho.   Anyone know of someone that does it around here?

define "near"

I had mine mounted at Southwest Superbike in Dallas.  They're not the best in the world, but they're good enough and they did it for their regular shop rate.  A lot of people have good luck removing the rear wheel and just taking the wheel and tire to a custom car place, and having them mount the tire.  That's probably what I'll do next time around, as my goal is to have a chromed wheel next time, and I don't want some grease monkey manually putting a tire on my new chrome rim.  (I watched them do it at southwest, it didn't look like fun.)
