Wasn't me Pete, but thanks for worrying. I haven't been on the internet all week; been working a lot of OT. Did y'all hear about the Gixxer that hit the wall over in Oak Ridge North? A wrong-way driver put him on the wall on the Lake Woodlands Drive overpass Thursday morning, and he rode his bike -- on its side -- along the top of the wall until a tree intervened. Shattered knee, broken ribs, punctured lung, broken neck, severe brain trauma (been in a coma since the wreck). The driver fled the scene.

Yeah, after I thought about it for awhile I'm kinda glad it wasn't me too. I know, I know, nobody likes a smartass!

I had two near-miss headons there when I worked patrol; both of them in patrol cars. Those idiots are too important to U-turn onto the eastbound lanes at the light when they come off the service road, so they just U-turn off the ramp onto the westbound lanes (it's a divided roadway) and take them eastbound over the freeway. But, there's always a prostitute willing to take their case (for the right money) who will get on the news and rant about how the government is treading all over his client's rights, and the unwashed masses will rally to the cry.

If I had to take a stab at it, I'd guess the rider wasn't wearing a helmet ... and the State and his parents are going to use him as the poster child for mandatory Helmet use? Frankly, I glad I was wearing mine several weeks ago. But that's just me. Prayers out to the rider and his family.
