What are you, a butt magnet? LOL, I'm all for the cig. thing John, they stink but it's a subconscious action, talking on the phone requires thought and that distracts from watching the road. Take them both out.

No, I wasn't talking about stinky butts Dusty. No, I just know that there is not as much disrtraction answering a call, as there is trying to get to your lit cigarette or the "cherry" that fell out of it in your lap, LOL Or the pop out cigarrette lighter falling in your lap. Been there done that. Hot fire in your lap will always take over your attention more than a cell phone will. The subconcious reaction will have you out of your seat and jerking the wheel real quick.
I am all for freedom of choice but don't make me pay for some elses poor choices. Insurance rates are based in part on the horrendous medical cost of motorcycle related head injuries. If you don't want to wear a helmet then just carry a nonhelmet add on to your policy and keep my rates based on my reduced risk head injury because I wear a helmet.
They never made it illegal to smoke and drive...They should pass that one way before the cell phone law.
I live in Alvarado, and a buddy of mine got pulled-over the other day for no helmut. The officer said he was pulling ALL m/c riders over and warning them if they did not have some sticker on their plates for that extra insurance that you need to ride without a helmut. That sucks.
I'll wear my helmet in the rain and in winter. Other wise, the dang thing is just a PITA.
