Motorcycle Awareness
« on: May 28, 2008, 11:52:13 AM »

Well, I'd been a little bummed about there not being enough done to promote May as Motorcycle Awareness Month here in TX.

I decided to contact my local paper and got to work with a reporter who was writing a story about motorcycle related deaths in my community. I was able to get quoted in the article and give the story at least a little bit of a "motorcycle awareness" flavor it may not have had otherwise.

With May about to close, I hope we can all do better in getting the word out about motorcycle awareness to non-riders in the future. Why wait for May '09?

Here's the article from Sunday's San Antonio Express News: http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/metro/stories/MYSA052508.01B.MotorcycleFatalities.389b94d.html

I got my name in the paper and didn't even have to get arrested to do it!  8)

four years ago, I got with the garland city council, and Mayor Bob Day .....I persuaded them to delcare, on paper, that may is Motorcycle safety awareness month in Garland.
It was a nationwide effort through suds and butterfly.
Just contact the mayors ofrfice in any city to get this done.
