No Electrical? Any thoughts
« on: May 24, 2008, 05:28:34 PM »

Has this happened to anyone.
Been riding bike (04 1300c) daily with NO problems at all. Pulled into driveway and turned off bike. Came back out about 3 hours later, NOTHING , No power at all when I turn the key.

Ignition Switch? , Fuse somewhere?  Open to any suggestions!  I have been real busy so I just pushed it into the garage for now. Haven't looked at anything yet.

Thanks Guy's and Gal's

Try the dumb things first. Check the battery connections. I had my Vulcan DIE ON THE ROAD AT 70 MPH due to loss of battery connection.
Check the voltage across the battery terminals. Hope for 12.5-13.5 volts. If the alternator died and the battery went dead, consider yourself lucky. I've never seen one go out AT THE HOUSE. It's usually at the gas spot in Timbuktu.
Check the fuses next. Should be a simple thing to spot a bad one. Don't over amp the replacement. It went out for a reason.

OK, that sucks my brain dry but hopefully finds your problem.

I don't care what other people think. They don't do it very often!
Of Course it's dirty. It's hard to clean when the tires keep moving.

How old is the battery?  If more than a year and no trickle charger, probably a dead battery.  Mine did it twice.  Of course, Lucky's Lover is totally correct.  Check that stuff first.  Batteries just seem to crater with little warning.  Good luck!!

Battery is original.....guess I got a good one on this bike. Never trickle the battery...I just drive the bike ALL the time.
Never had any issues or funny things happen. Started up easily all the time.
Guess I will have to get out in garage soon and take a look!

Thanks for the replies guys

Well it's fixed.....I guess the bub's pipes I put on make this bike rumble a little more and loosened the battery connections

thanks for all the comments
