Hipshot, you can call me anything you like, I'll just argue if I disagree. LOLI want to do fork springs too, at some point. I may couple the whole project with chromed fork tubes tho.
Snake, I haven't ridden an X with the GW springs, so I can't really evaluate the differences. My understanding is that the ride is the same, but the GWs give you a little more travel. I know there are some out here with them; let's hear what they have to say. I know I've installed at least one set of GW springs in an X, and I recall that they were a lot harder for my scrawny butt to compress than the regular X size when we installed the caps. I THINK we put them in Vernell's bike, but I can't recall for sure.
Hooter I just put the gw progressives on mine a couple weeks ago. I'm glad you mentioned the shocks going to "full extension". It was a sound and feel I was unsure of at first but came to that conclusion last weekend. Are you talking about hitting a bump and the front end extends out all the way prior to weight returning to the wheel? When that has happened to me I can't reall hear it so much as feel a sort of thunk in the grips. The other thing I noticed is that it is considerably stiffer than it was before. Of course I've read a lot lately about low fork oil from the factory. If that was the case the combination of new springs and proper oil level might equal a little stiffer feel.
My wife thinks anyone born north of I 10 is a yankee.
