Opinions needed on rider to rider communications
« on: April 28, 2008, 02:43:31 PM »

Let's say I'm chasing Lucky's tail and I notice she's going to miss the turn up ahead. What's everyone using for rider to rider communications that doesn't involve the Hawaiian Peace Sign?

I don't care what other people think. They don't do it very often!
Of Course it's dirty. It's hard to clean when the tires keep moving.

HAHAHHAA

That happened to me and Trent this weekend. I honked like hell (after I restarted my bike 5 times cause I was hitting the starter button instead of the horn) and hollered, "TURN, YOU F**KER" real loud.

It worked O0

Check this out: http://www.cardowireless.com/scala_rider_teamset . I got one with the TomTom I got. I'm going to buy another sungle unit for my girlfriend so we can communicate with one another. Bluetooth compatible, so it works with Bluetooth cellular phones!!!  O0 O0

+1...that's what I use to talk with Lori on her Ultra!  8)  It's pricey, but well worth the money.  I read too many stories of people buying the cheaper units and finding out they were not good enough or didn't like them at all.

You have a girlfriend?  ??? :o

No wifie on the bike, no need for comms...  O0

We use the J&M CB on my Shadow and my husband has a cb on his Wing.

When I picked up the VTX in Kentucky last week, I purchased temporary solution from www.airrider.com.  That consisted of a handheld cb, PTT button and cable interface to our Nolan N-102 helmets.  Worked great for a temporary solution.  We will be moving the J&M to the VTX and the temp solution to the Shadow for when my daughter is in town and wants to ride.

I bought an Autocomm and it seems to work great.  I have a Garmin Zumo 550 connected to it which gives me MP3 and Bluetooth to my phone.  I may add a CB radio but the phone and intercom for rider/passenger works fine for now.  I was a little disappointed for the money that the unit is not totally sealed.  I ended up mounting it in the saddlebags, and it does work much better with at least face sheilds.  I didn't have enough VOX control to work with my open face helment.
