They don't go by the KJ Bible. Only carry it for show when trying to convert new members. Make them think they are just another Christian Church but they are a long ways from it. They go by the Book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price and I think the third is Laws and Covenants. Elohim their name for our god is just one of millions or billions of equal gods each with his own galaxy. Each person that goes through the church joining and gets his/her underware with the secret slits which they must wear at all times, (Rush was always trying to get someone to ask Romney if they could feel the secret slits in his underware LOL), and gets married in the Temple may one day after death become a god of his own galaxy equal to all other gods. It is written (AS MAN IS GOD ONCE WAS AND AS GOD IS MAN MAY BECOME) Women?? They will just be another one of the millions of wives given out to one of the gods.  He must produce billions of offspring to cycle through the life/death process on his earth like planet. Gonna have a lot of bed work to produce all those offspings and that's why the millions of wives. And no rank among wives even his wife on earth when she goes before Joseph Smith.  Oh yes when you die and come before God you will find Jesus sitting on his left with his hands folded doing nothing while the place of honor on the right sits Joseph Smith taking care and making all the decisions for Elohim. It is JS who will extend his hands through the veil and feel for the secret slits in your underwear and determines where you go. Oh yes one day Jesus will return to the new Jerusalem (Independence, Missouri) and just rule earth. Never makes full blown god status as a great many Mormon men ruling a whole galaxy----WASN'T MARRIED IN THE TEMPLE. I guess one day Joseph Smith will go on to his own galaxy and Elohim will have to get out of the sack and run things for himself.-----Sound kinda like a SEX CULT???????? Millions of wives for eternity ------beats the hell out of the 70 some odd virgins the hero Islamics get if you are into that sort of thing.

Romney is not part of the same religion as the polygamist sect. They separated from the church of jesus christ of latter day saints in the late 1800s when they (the church) abolished their practice of polygamy, as well as other things. They - the polygamist sect - are the FUNDAMENTALIST church of jesus christ of latter day saints. WAY TOO OFTEN confused w/ the actual LDS church. The main LDS church does NOT practice polygamy, have child brides, have marraiges beds in their temples, etc.

As far as the underwear - they are called garments. And personally - as a mormon - I find it offensive to talk about "secret slits in the underwear" (which is ridiculous b/c their isn't secret slits  ::) )  And as mormons - WE do go by the KJ bible, as well as yes, the BOM and other scriptures. The FLDS also uses the KJ bible and others. (the third you mentions is actually doctrine and covenants)  You have many things wrong in your statement on what they believe in and making fun of it when your facts aren't correct just makes you look ignorant.

I never called him ignorant. I said his incorrect statements made him *look* ignorant. You can be as old as the methusela - and still be ignorant if you don't have the correct facts. I AM mormon. Romney is mormon. The FLDS church - w/ the polygamists - are not mormon.  To associate Romney with them was incorrect. The garments w/ "secret slits" is incorrect. To say the KJ Bible isn't used is incorrect. jesus sitting next to joseph and doing nothing is weird and silly. Joseph Smith is not seen as a god in the church. he is not worshipped. He is as important and special as Abraham, Moses, Noah in the Bible were - to us. A teacher. A leader. I'm not sure on the FLDS. The whole Eloihm and gods and galaxies and wives is twisted.

My whole point of the post was not to name call. Neither you, nor youngguy - and I didn't do that. My point was to state that the FLDS church and LDS church (ie: Mormon church) are not the same. (Romney is mormon) The media easily confuses the two b/c of the names. They started from the same roots but long ago split and while quite a few beliefs appear to still be the same, there are very VAST and STARK differences. It was also to point out that the facts are incorrect.

You do not know me personally but there are quite a few on here that do. Those that do - I don't know of any that would call me ignorant.

This country was founded due to religious persecution. Albeit our forefathers were a little different, but NOT that different in their beliefs. I view it as "another" cult. Someone who was charismatic enough to lead astray some sheep. This seems to happen every 15-20 years. It's always something just a little different, but really, all the same.

Religion, belief of a supreme being, has become secondary in this country. It's become a crutch that many rely on in times of need. Not a foundation in which to build upon. If you took away all the false idols, ie: Hollywood Brats, Musicians, and the constant flow of the "15 minutes of fame" people, what's left? What would everyone have to talk about? What would we think about? Ourselves? OMG! You mean we'd have to start analyzing ourselves? What a concept!

Do I agree with these people? No. Will I persecute them? No. They're lost. They're searching for guidance, for a purpose and they'll follow anyone who seems to care for them.

I'll stop here.....

What I could never understand is why would a man marry more than one wife at once? I can't do all the honey do's that one wife can think up.

That is why in the Bible it says that an elder or a deacon in the church should be the husband of one wife.

So, it is funny to me how the elders of this particular church have more than one wife.  If they base the polygamy on religious beliefs, because that is the only way that it could be protected.

Can you tell me what bible verse you're talking about?
Though I'm not Raymond, he's referring to the 3rd chapter of 1Timothy in which it's mentioned a couple of times regarding deacons and overseerers in the body of believers.

Elohim their name for our god is just one of millions or billions of equal gods............

Well, if you want to play bible, you have to bring your A game. Elohim is the first name given for God on the original Hebrew text of the bible. It is used over 2000 times in the old testament. Other names used in the original Hebrew are Elshadi, Adoni, Yaweh, etc. So unless you are claiming that Mormons wrote the original Hebrew text of the bible (wouldn't that leave you red faced), then Elohim is not "their" name for our God.

Prejudices are built on rumors, not fact. My father was born in Tennesse in 1927. Up until he joined the military to defend our country in WW2, he was always told that Black people were animals just like a pig or a cow. And because of this, they all had tails. It wasn't until he asked a fellow enlisted black man about his tail that he finally learned the truth. Prejudice is passed and magnified through rumor.

I wonder how many of those 400 or so people in the compound were faces on missing posters plastered across the US over the last 20 or so years?  How many of those women and children were taken against their will (kidnapped) and convinced the compound way of life was better than the one they came from?  To me this situation is very similar to the act of effecting a person's mental to extent they take their own life...is that really murder?

Then there are those who criticize Government for being too nosy.  This compound is big and didn't pop up over night.  How did this situation get to where it is with being shut down?  Should the compound be shut down?  Outside the focus of bigamy and the so called child brides, what laws where actually broken?  Maybe they were just trying to find that little niche here in America where they could live a less stressful life.

Folks remember that secrecy leads to communism or dictatorships...every time!

God bless America, please.

Guys,

I did not mean to start a religious argument about Mormons.  I don't know anything about the beliefs.  I was just talking about the LEADERS not needing to have more than 1 wife to be able to have the time to run the place.

I am in the process of becoming the pastor of a church to which I have been called to preach in the past year and a half since God healed Mikayla.

I am sure that I will eventually learn more about others beliefs, but for now, I know that my wife keeps me pretty busy with all of her needs, and my children cover the time that she does not.

The husband of one wife verses are:

1 Timothy 3:2
2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

1 Timothy 3:12
12 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.

Titus 1:6
6 An elder must be blameless, the husband of but one wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient.

=============
Polygamy was a widespread practice in the Bible.  The limitations above were placed on the leaders of the church and not the congregation.  It was very common to have several wives in the new and old testament.

Look what happened to Solomon.

1 Kings 11:3,4

3 And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.

4 For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.

Too many distractions in your life can take you away from God.  Whether it be wives, money, work, motorcycles.....(I know that last one hit too close to home)

I'm going to stop preaching now.
