alrighty!!!!  Now that we have all the indians, who's the chief?   ;D  I figure between the right ups and the manual we ought to be able to do this, right?  Scott, I am in Austin right now on bidness but will get in touch with you when I get back to town about this.

Brad, I think your the CHEIF on this one!! ;D :D ;D You seem to have all the experience and knowledge, no pressure...lol. Since it will be a fairly big gathering, let's figure out what weekend will be the best so all can participate. Brad, since your the leader on this one (hope your ok with that), what works best for you? I'm not in a huge rush to do it, just let me know what fits your schedule the best. Has anyone else here in the group done this before?

I just gotta get my stuff together and organize when all can attend. I'll get back to all and see when everyone is availble to do it. Does anyone have experience with this?

Er, uh, guys..........keep in mind that the engine needs to be cold to do the valve adjustment properly and the inside of that engine will remain quite warm long after you can put your hand on the outside!!

And, personally, I don't trust the 'hot compensation' settings.....suggest you don't either.

Did anyone ever come up with any plan on this and I missed it?

No, you didn't miss anything Morgan. I've just been busy and will be going out of town next weekend for some dirt ridin'. :D :D As soon as I can clear a free Sat or Sun I'll post to see if it works for all. Has anyone actually done this before? I was told that it was pretty easy to do, just use the go-no-go method.....

Depending on the day, I'd try to attend and assist also. I have some nifty hand made tools that make checking the gaps a breeze even on the rear exhaust valve.  I've done quite a few adjustments for people so maybe I can add some input and probably learn a few things.

Man, this has been the longest valve adjustment I've ever seen.

I think it sounds like they think of valve adjustments like they do their sex, Jim. As in "It's better to get someone else to do yours for you, unless you have to pay for it...in that case, it's better to do your own!"

I would PAY someone their regular rate to stand over me, make me do the work and teach me how to do it.

You're more than welcome to drive down here and watch me do one. If you're interested in doing that bring a manual (to take notes) and a camera. It's really not hard, just a little tedious. Believe me, I'd rather do two VTXs than a Shadow 750 or a CBR.
