I rode a raider yesterday
« on: January 27, 2008, 09:58:05 PM »

I went to the dealer yesterday and was allowed to ride a Raider for about a hour. I took it on the freeway and some twisties. All I can say is Wow! This is one sweet machine. It has lots of power and quick response. When taking the corners it feels more stable than my 1300. I can see one of these in my future. Yamaha has done their homework and come up with a great machine.

My brother has had a warrior since 02, Never a problem out of it except for a starter and a bunch of rear tires.  It's a good motor, but the bike sits weird.  Controls are too foward.

I may end up with the Raider but the first thing to go is those damn ugly pipes. In one of their advertisements they have a totally different set of pipes on the bike look like Martin Bros. pipes to me and they do make it look sweet. On the air cooled from what I hear this next year all bikes have to be water cooled and fuel injected unless its changed again.

Is it just me or is there anybody else that thinks that bike is ugly?

I like the front end.  The back is horrible.  I saw it in person and my opinion remained.

Niterider (Mike) has ridden a Raider as well and liked it.

I talked to a dealer today and he said that they will not water cool the engines.  They are putting ceramic linings in the cilinders.  The Raider already has one of these engines and meets epa even in Ca.

I have the 1300C and did not like the way the back looked with the tail lights and all so removed it all and went with Custom Dynamics LED stop lights and turn signals and added the side mounted plate.I am sure after awhile someone if not that particular company will come out with something to make the back end look a bit better.
