THere's a house in MA by my parents where they decorate the whole house and yard extensively and they have it sync'ed to music and they broadcast the music over an AM radio frequency.  So if you go to the house you can sit in your car and listen to the music while watching the sync'ed light show.  Pretty cool.

I have a friend here that builds his own circuit boards and makes his lights dance to music like that. Last year he had about 36,000 lights up.
