Well it looks like we are going to do it. Leaving Houston Thurs. 10/18 afternoon and will spend Thurs. night in Shreveport. We will be coming back to Houston 10/22.

Friday - 3-29-67-51 to Hot Springs  with the rest of the time 7-314-27-270-back to Hot Springs.

Sat. - Hot Springs -7-154-123 to Harrison

Sun. - Harrison -43-21-16-23-71-28-27-88- to Mena

Mon. Mena to Houston

The above is just a rough idea of what we want to do but it looks pretty good on the map. If anyone want to join in let us know.

So far it is DAR - KEBS - Quick Silver

Any advice?

  • What a ride it's been!

The best of the trip will be after you leave Mena, go up the talimena drive to Talihina,  OK. Ridge top road the whole way, longer than the dragon, not as sharp of curves, less traffic, beautiful vistas and LOTS of roadside stopping areas. This is one of them, looking back down over the Talimena drive,

This is the type of stuff the side roads in the area have on them, this is on 259, an intersecting road.

This is a view from one of the stops along the way....

As a native Arkie all that sounds like a good samplin' of the roads. If I was you I'd get up early Friday, Meet me @ Hi-way 29 just south of Hope n follow me blindly 4 the rest of the day. :D Any1 need 2 run anything other than regular gas or red dye no tax diesel? :-\ Coz when ya ride in the sticks ya ain't gonna find anything else. >:( So anybody thinkin' 'bout ridin' their Hi-test highball sippin' Hifalutin Harley n leavin' the regular beer chuggin' X @ da house better think again! :o :'( Not that I'm singlin' out any 1 person....HA, Ha, ha.........  ::)

Shreveport is 'bout 100 miles outa Hope, I'll take ya 200 miles n then ya can decide where 2 go from there depending on the time n how much mo'/less ridin ya wanna do.........

No, the one in the middle is the same place we ran up on the guy with the side car and trailer on his wing though.

Agreed the Talimena drive 2 Talihina, OK. is hard 2 beat. There's a little hole in the wall beer joint off the main drag in Talihina has $1.50 longnecks & an erotic painting from Mexico purchased in the 50's from the previous owner. As if that wasn't enough they varnished an old Miller Lite poster/ads to the wall. Ya get bored ya can play name the dead celebrity.

Most of the roads in AR go between the ridges coz of easier travel, access 2 water n so that's where they settled .

Snake,

Do you think you would be able to make it out at all for any of the days?
