Proud New Owner!!
« on: April 24, 2006, 12:04:19 PM »

Hello,

I just got back from picking up my new VTX 1800 F Spec 2 and am loving every minute of it.  A friend and I flew to TN, loaded them into the back of a uhaul, amd drove back to Houston.  Not a bad way to spend 25 hours.  Can't wait to start on the mods!!  Had the dealership put V&H bigshots, a Kuryakyn hypercharger Pro-R, and a power commander on before we left.  We both live in the north Houston area.  Look forward to meeting everyone, and we are going to try and ride to the ROT rally.

A better way to spend 25 hours would have been riding them back! :)

I thought the truck was going to fall apart because the roads were so bad.  I can't imagine trying that on a bike, in the middle of Mississippi, at 3am.  Would have made a better story to ride them back, but I think we made a wise decision.

I am buying the same bike in Tn as well.  Im giddy!  Im riddn the greyhound overnight and ridin back to Dallas.  Any tips, warnings?  I plan on being there when they open.
I sold my shadow vlx 600cc and movin on up...... way up!  I hope it isn't too much of a jump up to the 1800f.
Main reason I want the 1800 over the 1300 is the sporty design.  The 1300's gas tank is too sqare and doesn't flush into the seat.
Wurd up Texas X Riders and welcome a new member.    ME!  ;D

I don't know if you have already embarked on your journey, but be prepared for at least 3 hours at the dealership.  I got mine from Southern Honda in Chattanooga and it is a small dealership that is PACKED on Saturdays.  As far as the ride back goes, it is pretty, but long and rough.  We rented a budget truck and loaded them in the back.  We took I-10 and it was crap.  Definitely get there as early as possible, because it will be at least 10 hours back.  It is exciting though.  Good luck, and welcome to the Owners Association!

Sounds ruff if your riding them back in a truck.  Riding back should be smooth on a bike I think.  Im taking the northern route through arkansas and oklahoma.
I will arrive in Cha, Tn at the greyhound bus station at 6 am monday morning and will be the first customer.  They are ganna pick me up that morning.  Should take bout an hour.  Besides, I got a 2.5 hour layover in Nashville at the greyhound BS at 1 am till 3:30.
Im trying to pack lite.  Wondering if I need a coat.  I got a light jacket but....  I wont be night riding.
How are the Law Enforcers in Tn?  Should I get a radar detector? Which one, Escort? It has earphone jack.
What about a NEW X and breaking her in?  Should I keep the speed under 60 for a couple hundred miles or what?  I cant wait to open her up on a straight.

I stare at the X bike pictures alot.   Im sooo Dang Excited im ganna crap on myself.   :D :o
