clutch upgrade
« on: August 13, 2007, 11:55:58 AM »

any opinions/test results on a good clutch upgrade would be helpful. I am doing a lot of motor work and the stock clutch is just not cutting it. I want to go full racing clutch assembly but am not sure if that is the right thing to do with this bike. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

The Kewl Metal 10 pack clutch is getting great reviews on the racing side of the X.  I would sign up over on http://www.californiavtxriders.com/forum/ and talk to Wayne.

He's pushing way more power than anyone else on this site or vtxoa.  David at www.designedperformance.com is pushing a lot as well.

Depending on how much power you're putting down, the barnett clutch will probably be fine.

What are you doing and what do you think you'll end up with?

for now I am putting in either forged or ceramic forged pistons, and a power commander control unit. I am going to port and polish the heads. When I get the money saved up I am hoping to put on a super charger or a small bottle of juice.

I'd say Barnett will be good.  MTC needs special spacing that is a pita to figure out according to a few on vtxoa.

If you start pushing over 140hp/tq, I'd go with the kewl metal pack.

Talk to TXVTX (this board or cali), WAYNE (cali), or BIGLRY (cali).

David at designed performance also has a megaton of knowledge about getting power out of the VTX.  He's also the only person I've heard of to have succesfully built a supercharger for the X.  It takes a redesign of the frame since there is no room above the motor.

Turbo's have been done more often though.

I think his bike is real fast why don't you ask him. He is on the board.
He put a turbo on his.

Here ya go X. This is one that was at the BBT4. He's a club member but at the moment I can't recall his name, maybe somebody else can tell ya.

I just couldn't remember, been drunk and slept since then. I heard how much HP this Buck Rogers puts out, seems someone said 168 dyno but could be wrong. All I know that VTX was running 150 MPH plus in my head as I snaped the pic's. I'd love to throw my balls over that seat one time just to feel it talk. DAMMMMN O0
