It's metal...typical Kury quality (which is good). According to my handy-dandy oil reservoir thermometer it has not increased engine heat at all (keep in mind the v-twin is liquid cooled and what little air cooling that takes place is not affected by the engine covers).

I saw those on e-bay too.  They do look a little cheeeeeeeeeeeeseeeee.  I passed them over with out a second look.
I would have to agree with you there kenpo. The pictures don't look like the real thing. But then, it's hard to get a good picture of chrome without a darker area reflected in it to show the quality. I don't know why kury wouldn't have better pics of it than that. Trust me though...the real thing is excellent. And as previously stated, it doesn't cause heating issues. For that matter, even painting the fins on the heads doesn't hurt cooling.

they're metal?  Well that's impressive.  I got the brake covers, and they're plastic.  I was underwhelmed, so I didn't get the engine ones.

Do you mean the kuryakin brake covers are plastic? Brake resorvoir or the calipers?

I've got a set of these and they are metal. And no, I haven't had any problems with it running hotter.
A little pricey but really accents the bike nicely.
