HJC Flip face helmet for free
« on: July 30, 2007, 02:07:54 PM »

Helmet is HJC, SYMAX, Flip face, extra large in silver

The catch....

I had the bike parked in a driveway and propped the helmet on the handlebars in the face open position. It fell to the ground (appx 36") which was not concrete or asphalt but earth and gravel. The face became misaligned at the hinges. Even though it will still close it is difficult to operate and dosn't seem properly aligned. I thought that I would one day get it fixed but I've never managed to do that. Additionally, I prefer my full face.

Rather than throw it away, i'd prefer to give it away to someone that might fix it and get some use out of it.

Don't wanna have to mess with shipping or anything since its a giveaway, so this is probably aimed at the Houston area. I live close to downtown.

the helmet is a large or extra large. I'll check next time I'm looking at it and post up.

Lemme know,

Martin

Has it been dropped?  Any damage?  Does the flip-up work and is it hard to operate?  Will you ship it if I take it?  Do I get any music with it or just that stuff you been peddling?

Yeah, I know.  There is a hole in every Cranberries!! ;D ;D

Damn Pete, you sound like one of my homebuyers, except no cuss words. :o  ;)
That music thing though. That hurt. I don't think even one of them would say something that mean. ;)

I'd toss it. Dropped helmets have potential flaws that you may not be able to see. You give it away, someone smashes their melon, they come back and sue your Cranberries, you definitely would be singing a sad tune... save yourself the potential exposure and chunk it.  O0

actually, if you havent already thrown it away, id like to have it....

not to wear, but to give me something to practice painting on.  it happens to be the same model as mine, so it would help....

I remember when I crashed my Yamaha Seca 750 back in 1980. Broke my collarbone, and took a HUGE hunk out of the back of the Bell fullface I was wearing. That crash is the reason I have never had a drop to drink while riding a motorcycle since. I was drunk-Cranberries, and should have been dead.

That helmet is also the reason I advised Martin to chuck his. I had a buddy that wanted mine. "Not to ride with", he said, but only "to see how they were built." He must have thought I was still suffering from head trauma... the helmet got thrown away, and I didn't have to worry about my friend getting injured with a helmet that was no longer safe...  O0

i appreciate that JM, but i almost never wear a helmet, and when i do, i wear mine.  i have no need to wear his or try to paint it and sell it off to someone else as a new and good helmet.....

Randy is legit.  He'll seriously just use it for painting.  I'd say give it him, Martin unless you've chunked it.
