Pipes are TOO LOUD for the Harley guy.
« on: July 28, 2007, 12:49:28 PM »

I went riding with a few buddies last Sunday afternoon. We started in Weatherford, TX and rode to Dallas and back. I have an 02 VTX1800 with straight through Cobra drag pipes and they all have Harleys.

We were riding in one lane in staggered positions. We were crusing at about 75 mph. One of the buddies, who rides a FatBoy, was at my right rear as I was in the left hand side of the lane. All of a sudden we have to slow down because of traffic. So I let off the throttle all the way, not gradually like normally. She starts popping really loud for about 10 seconds or so. When we speed back up he comes flying by me with his left ear covered. Haahaa! You're pipes are TOO LOUD he hollers at me.

I thought it was friggin great. Cause you know Harley guys are supposed to be the Hard Up BadAsses right? Honda with pipes was too loud. LOL. Who woulda thunk it?

those cobras are pretty loud ive noticed myself..matter of fact i almost got a set myself then decided on the bigshots instead...just liked the look and when i ran with another x with them i was sold...baffles=moderately loud...no baffles=ear splitting. I  leave em in there most of the time but its fun to let the lion roar once in a while%

When I followed her to a M&G, I had no idea if my bike was running. I do have to say though, no vehicles tried to merge into her lane. ;D

+1 on the Cobras...  They are obnoxiously loud.  A buddy of mine bought a Spirit 750 several years back and put a set of Cobras on his bike.  Then he preceeded to knock the baffles out.   :o   Ear splitting may even be an understatement.   ;D  Anyway, he was behind me cause he couldn't keep up!   O0

I showed up at a campsite where 4 of my biker co-workers were staying. We were going on a morning ride to get breakfast. Two of the guys that were supposed to ride waved me on and said "We can't make this one". My boss started his bike and looked at me and said "A lot of people 'own' motorcycles".

I'm running the HK Sideburners right now.  Oddly enough i don't find them that loud......but the folks that have ridden on the right of me or just a few bikes back have all commented on the volume of them.
Actually last weekend one guy moved down the line some to get away from me...   They said they moved  because of the pipes, but it could have been my rugged handsome looks that was distracting them O0

Yeah...i'm sure that what it was
