If you're talking about the large rear-most cover then just pull it off.
If you're talking about the front-most cover that actually covers the end of the crankshaft then you're in for more effort. That cover actually IS the crankcase cover (unlike the one on the right side of the engine which is a fake that covers the timing access. For the left cover you'll actually be breaking the HondaBond sealant seal to remove it. You'll also be pulling the slave cylinder which is attached under the rear-most cover and you'll be pulling the dipstick with it. I would probably remove the rear cover, remove the dipstick, remove the slave cylinder, remove the bolts, then find a good place to place a stick or block from the opposite side and 'bump' the cover off with a mallet.
Now, I've never had that particular cover off, but just from my memory that's the basics. You should be fine to pull the slave cylinder but be careful as it might have some spring tension on it from the clutch basket on the other side.
If you've broken the seal, and you're still feeling the 'spring' type hold on the cover, it may be that you need to pull the slave cylinder off the cover and check for a snap ring or keeper on the clutch rod. You could be pulling on the clutch springs on the other side.
Just some thoughts.
