Skipppy, I've had 2 of these.
http://www.hondadirectlineusa.com/stores/product.asp?pid=2994&str=1&ID=47836693
I really like this model. Flip face w/ 3 air intakes. 2 on top, and 1 at the mouth.

I really like when they say: Adjustable chin vent directs air upwards across the inside of the shield to help prevent fogging.

My glasses and shield always seemed to have fogged up on my GSXR this one I will have to check out

Lori and I just recently purchased the Scorpion EXO-400 helmets, and they work very well in preventing fogging.  Neither one of us can get the things to fog up, even trying to breathe really hard when it was colder out.  The price can't be beat, either.  Go to Cycle Gear or Honda of Houston and start trying on all the helmets that those two stores have.  Honda of Houston has the Scorpion models.

Skipppy, If those 2 can't get it to fog up...........no one can! :P :D :D

Crack,
not to be a smart Cranberries, but is the hot spot caused from the wind or your odd sized melon?
If from wind what about getting a windshield if you don't have one?
would that help any?
[/quote]

I'm sure it's from my abnormally large and mishapen head.  ;D. My current full face helmet is a KBC Force RR and it has plenty of vents. I guess I should've clarified that by hot spots, I meant a burning sensation caused by pressure rather than a lack of air flow.
And even though all of my reasoning tells me that a half helmet isn't as safe as a FF... I rode for almost 2 hours last night [with my half helmet] and even then, I had no signs of any impending discomfort.

I'm torn!

I was also able to use an ice cream scoop and "spoon in" my Symax to fit without the hot spot. It took about three hours to get'er done, but worked great.

Any suggestions or warnings here?
Shortly after I got my helmet I was actually seriously considered taking my dremel tool and trying to remove some of the foam, kind of create a small recess to alleviate the pressure points but then decided against it, thinking that if I remove any of the foam, it might make it less effective in an accident since it's the foam that is supposed to absorb the force of the impact.
But I guess if you think about it... it's probably still safer to have a full face helmet with a small amount of the foam removed in a few strategic locations to reduce the pressure points rather than going with a half helmet right???

PUG! You ROCK dude! You've inspired me to take another look at my full face helmet.

Thank you all and I'm sorry Marigold, I didn't mean to take off on your thread!  :-\ :)

I don't think that someone should ride without a helmet just because they think it doesn't look cool to wear one. I also don't think that someone should ride without one just because they are worried what someone else might think, or say. BUT........... that's a two-way street. I don't think one should wear an uncomfortable helmet just because they are afraid of what someone else might think. Motorcycling has some inherent risks, and those of us who INTELLIGENTLY (that's a key word in this concept) weigh the risks should have the freedom to make their choice. A half helmet provides a lot more protection than no helmet, and it protects the most vital part (although some would argue that the mouth is the most vital part of a woman's head, I would never dare go there) of the head. A deformed face would be bad, but not as bad as dying. Because I love Marigold, I worry about her. I don't want to see her hurt; I want her protected as much as possible. I may kid her about her helmet selection, and I may worry about it, but it's HER choice. The one thing that really galls me about the issue is the people who make up "facts" to back up their choice, or repeat those "facts" as gospel without question. I respect someone who says, "I don't wear a helmet because I don't want to, and I accept the risk."  I hate to hear, "I don't wear a helmet because they're dangerous -- they are heavy and cause neck injuries," or "I don't wear them because they are dangerous -- they restrict your peripheral vision." Those are BS reasons; they won't stand up to scrutiny and too often garbage like that posted on forums like this will be read by a novice who will believe it. It would be a shame to see someone killed or crippled because they chose to forego some protective apparel. It would be tragic to see someone killed or crippled because they were afraid of looking unfashionable, or because they believed some BS reason for their avoidance of protective apparel.

There's a guy on the national board who used those exact excuses.

The shields go past your peripheral and there's no facts saying it causes neck injury.  Even *IF* it did...brains on the hood or neck injury...hmm tough one.

I didn't wear one for 2 years and then I went to the 1/2 shell.  After seeing pictures on the net of guys splattered all over curbs, cars, trees, etc, I went to the full face.  I'll take the 2 degree difference in the full face vs 1/2 or none.  Not to mention no sunburn. O0

In the end it's personal choice, but arguments AGAINST wearing a full face will never sit well with me unless you just fess up to the risk like Jim said.

As tragic as that would be, isn't that what's referred to as natural selection???  ;D ;D ;D

Regarding the rationalizations I've seen and heard about not wearing a helmet or not wearing a good one.....

If you're watching tv in the morning and the weatherman says there is a 20% chance of rain in your area, then you can assume you have a 1 in 5 chance of getting wet. If you walk outside to get the paper and get rained on then there is a 100% certainty that you are wet. If you decided not to wear a raincoat, then you are even wetter.

If you don't wear a helmet, with all the riders out there you stand a pretty good chance (I think)  of never being in a serious accident and a helmet will never really be needed.
But if you're number does come up and someone pulls across your lane or whatever...then you're gonna wish like hell you had on the biggest helmet made.

And somebody, somewhere's number is seemingly, always coming up.

So, there you have it. Marty's two cents. 8)

even better
sorry Marigold for highjacking, but this is good info to have if looking for a helmet
or to consider why full is better than 1/2 and 3/4

She doesn't mind!  Here's their website: http://www.scorpionusa.com/home.html

Lori.............Make him stand down........ :P

That's the reason I wrote about it......I wanted Pros and Cons on the 1/2 helmet but if this subject is having everyone taking and giving information on helmets thats good too....

I'm torn!

Ya.......I know what you mean. I spent the money and now I feel like I have to wear it at least once in awhile...

It was much more comfortable then my 3/4 helmet. I wasn't bobble head and it was allot cooler...
