Help - Denver Road Conditions
« on: July 10, 2007, 08:08:10 AM »

To those of you that attended Coloradoical - did they ever finish the construction on I-25 through Denver?  Last year I-25 north was essentially shut down.  We are heading to Glacier NP and will be passing through Denver on Saturday.  Any input regarding I-25 from Raton to Loveland would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Thanks!!!

I want to go to GNP.  :(

I-25 northbound around Colorado Springs is pretty jacked up, but other than that it appeared fine up to Englewood.  Through Denver I would think it's fine, but I don't know for sure.

Thanks folks.

We are trying to make it to at least Billings, MT and hopefully a bit more in 2 days. Going as straight as we can as fast as we can.  We plan to slow down after we get the first 1700 miles behind us.  Then north west to GNP, cross Ideho (In dishonor of Imus) to Moscow, ID (To honor the Fall of the Wall and Ronald Regan) then across Washington/Oregon to Pac Coast Hwy south to CA (Looking for Nancy the P) east to NV and the "Loneliest Highway in America" (Anyone Seen Harry Reid?) then who the heck knows - or cares.

If butts and backs hold out - 5500 miles and we be back.  Its Gold Wing vs. Harley!!  V-twin vs. 6 cylinder!  Water cooled vs air cooled!!  Old school vs. New Math!!  Who's fault will it be if we don't make it?  Asphalt!!!!! :D

We will post if we can, when we can.

Can't wait.  2 days to the "Mother of All Rides!!" 8) O0

Some how, I think I overheard talk of a Coonass cooking, at next years Denver ride. You boys ride safe, have fun, and think about what  you are going to cook in Denver next year. The hippo at the Denver Zoo is off limits. My wife said she will help any way she can, but she explained every Coonass woman knows not to come between a Coonass man and his pots.

I've been to Seaside and Canon Beach...they are both absolutely beautiful.  There's nothing like the Oregon coastline.  There is a State Park that I went to not far from there that I saw one of the most breathtaking sunsets I had ever seen.

You guys be safe!

Added a few more pics.  So far the high lights of the trip have been 1. Glacier National Park, 2. the river ride on US 12 from Missoula, MT to Moscow, ID, 3. the river ride on I-84 from Moscow to Portland, OR, 4. the rain forest ride from Portland to Seaside, OR, and 5. today's ride through all the beautiful geo formations in the Eastern portion of Utah along US 50 and US 70.

I had a great time and will be doing this sort of thing again.

It sure would be nice to see Pete's pictures.  I know he took some nice ones.

Great pics, Jerry, and glad to see you made it home safely!  O0

Those trees that you wrote you had never seen before are birch. Remember the old birch-bark canoes?
