My Darkside...
« on: July 04, 2007, 11:04:58 PM »

Got done with my Darkside, a Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R 205/55/16...  I did have to do a little grinding on the bracket under the fender because it rubbed just a little, I grinded the tabs and the whole bottom lip off, then put door edging on it, and no problem now...  I've had it on for a week now, and love it.  I barely remember it being a little harder to turn at low speeds, but now I don't notice anything at all, and at 45+ i couldn't see much difference on the first day.  The guy that mounted the tire for me was against me going to the darkside, but I took it by after I put it on, and let him ride it, he likes it now...  It tracks straight, and is very comfortable, I love it...

TKS for the heads up. How did the different tire size affect your speedo? Show to run faster or slower now?

I can't help thinking about when you turn, you only have the sharp edge of the tire on the road, considerably less rubber to road ratio.
Might not be much of an issue on dry pavement but wet oily road's would
be a cause for concern.
There is diffinently a reason why car tires and motorcycle tires are manufactured differently.
I hope it work's for you, be careful.

I still gotta take someone out with me to check the speedo, but I think I am reading slow.  I will try to check it this evening.  I guess that is the way to do it, to run with a car with cruise control and see what I am reading.  Is there another way?

Some of those rich guys ( ;) ) have GPS's, but I still use the mile marker/60 second method.
