got the swingarm off and found out that the pieces that were shattered were from the seals and bearings in the actual side of the swingarm.  there were little chunks of the bearing and magnets from it in the u joint, but the u joint actually looked fine.  Not sure if this would cause my problem or not (hoping so) so i'm going to replace the bearings in the swingarm and then check it out.  if this does not do it then its off to the clutch.

Jerry, to me this is actually another fun part of having the bike.  I'm by no means a wrench but I have learned alot (tore up alot also) from working on my own bike and I'm probably better than 40% of the wrenches at honda.

I like the way you think Vern.  O0  I find comfort in knowing exactly what was done instead of wondering what they did.  ;)

If you are talking about the bearings on the outer part of the swingarm where it bolts to the frame... Hi/lo carries them for 1/4 the price that honda sells them... I broke one when I was doing th 240 kit on my bike...  I took the number off the undamaged one and they were able to get it for me next day.  I paid like $8.00 and honda wanted about $35.00 and a week to get it.

Hope this helps

Parts finally made it in over the weekend and I have not had any time to work on it yet   :'( :'(.  It seems to have been the pieces of bearing that had the u-joint froze up.  I'll know for sure soon and post .

Finally got around to putting the swingarm back on the bike and that was not the problem.

Went ahead and drained the oil to inspect the clutch.  The clutch looks all in place, but the oil smells burnt.  Going to pull the clutch apart and see what it looks like.

Holy thread ressurection! Vern, I know ya'll are puttin' on the play right now...but I never heard just what happened to be the problem that had your bike down here. Was it the broken swingarm bearings binding the shaft or some problem with the clutch? Hope you got to make the lsr thursday and the play goes well.
