Sure did. I find I don't need it when I ride 2 up. It hurts my wife's legs also. I use it solo.

I took the wife out for a short ride the other night and the back rest kinda bothered her legs too so will try without it. Pulling out next Monday or Tuesday morning for Ft Stockton and on down to Terlingua area, so don't need her complaining about the backrest.

I read the thread for those deflectors but some of the photos won't load up so I'm not sure I have the right idea. I have a Hondaline screen but it looks like you have a piece of light guage angle with two bolts through the deflector on one leg and one to the lower fastener on the screen bracket on the other leg. If that's the case, it's pretty cool that it holds with only one bolt on the one leg. I would probably not have even tried that since I would have figured that it would take two fasteners. I'm going to give it a try. Just let me know if I missed something. I work in a steel fabrication shop and am thinking I can probably find something to work.
Her job is to complain and my job is to give her a reason!
