Do not call list
« on: April 24, 2007, 04:41:51 PM »

I know this has gone around before but it appears that the numbers are going to be released again. I called and it sounded legit. I'm not certain when the 6 days began, the email I got was dated today. If you don't want to call, you can go to the website.  O0

REMINDER ....6 days from today, all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sale calls.
.....YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone : 888-382-1222 .
It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five (5) years.

You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked.
You cannot call from a different phone number.
HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS OR GO TO: www.donotcall.gov

Thanks Bill, I registered mine on the web site. I got a confirmation e-mail with a link to double confirm. There's also a link on the site for filing complaints if telemarketers call anyway.

Cool... 8)

I'm sorry Dusty, but I'm afraid you've been duped.  The site is legit, but it's for registering land lines.  Cell phone numbers still aren't being released.

As further evidence and quoted from www.donotcall.gov -
" The National Do Not Call Registry gives you a choice about whether to receive telemarketing calls at home. ..."

Sorry, man.

Sorry, man.

This is posted on the Do Not Call Website also.

Did you get an email claiming that your cell phone is about to be assaulted by telemarketing calls because of a new cell phone number database? Those claims are not true. In fact, federal law prohibits telemarketers from using automated dialers to call cell phones. You may place your personal cell phone number on the National Do Not Call Registry, but there is generally no reason to do so. For more information, see the FTC's press release "The Truth about Cell Phones and the Do Not Call Registry".

I registered my land line over a year ago.  >:( The telemarketers use computer call ups and send a precorded message to flood your answering machine with crap. I don't guess those calls are covered in the "Do Not Call List". I always like the one's when you answered they would ask to hold for an important message.  O0  I finally took my phone ringer to off and only have an answering machine. It's a shame that the law allows phone Scamers to getting free advertisement at our expense. I guess that's just the way it is now, it's always at "our expense"  :-\ :-\
