Surprise in the road
« on: April 23, 2007, 05:51:59 PM »

Kandie and I went for a quick ride the other day. We were just outside of Montgomery, I was leading when I noticed from a distance what appeared to be a piece of shredded tire tread in the road ahead. As I get a closer I put my right foot out and to point it out, as I approach. Just as I get right up on it I look down again and notice it is a SNAKE!! My foot was just about to hover right over it’s head. It was 5to 6 feet long at the very least.

My foot, leg everything snapped up quicker than a tornado relocating a trailer in Louisiana. Then some sort or weird screaming sounds flew out of my mouth for next half mile, sounded like those middle eastern women when they stick their tongue out and make those weird noises.

After I calmed down a bit and my heart rate went back to normal,  I started thinking, what was I screaming for, I was on a bike going at least 60 or 70, I had  boots and jeans on, and it was probably dead anyways, right? Started to laugh at myself (even though deep down I know if it happens again probably exactly the same reaction) silly girl you have really got to grip on this fear of snakes.

A few miles down the road we pull into to the gas station. I walk over to Kandie she says
Can you believe that?!?

I know!!  Do you think it was alive?

 Don’t know.

Awe man!

Do know what kind of snake it was?

I said I thought it might be a water moccasin because I remember seeing some sort of spots on it’s back (as a rule it doesn’t really matter what kind it is to me, cuz I’m not sticking around for details).

She said No! It was as DIAMOND BACK!!

Oh shet, glad I pulled my foot up.

I know.

Could ya tell I was screaming?

Oh yeah, and those guys behind us knew something was up cuz they slowed way up.

A few minutes some other guys on bikes pulled in to the station (the other ones turned off). I walked over to them and asked if they had just been down 149?

Yeah.

Did you see that big snake in the road?

What snake? You see a snake?

No

You?

No.

No?

Oh shet! Kandie it was ALIVE! !

AHEM>>>>> I can cure you of your fear of snakes Sherri, it will take two days and you will be cured. Been there , done that. One woman I cured could not even look at a picture of a snake, she was that bad. Took a week for her.

Hey Twisty were you on 2978 Saturday night around 7?

I've seen a dead hog on that back road to Papas.

What do they say about loud pipes?  Oh yeah they save lives :) good for the small critters, too bad snakes are deaf. I know they feel the vibration though.
