We just found out this week that our daughter Kaitlin, has been accepted to the UT Health Science Center's School of Nursing. She's going in with a 3.9 GPA.  O0 O0

Well RD, either these guys respect you or you've scared the hell out of some of them..... nobody's asked for photos yet. I sorta figured one or two of them would make that request pretty quick.

Our daughter is a nurse too........

We help put her through Nursing College. We had ulterior motive. When we get to old to get around we will have someone that knows what they are doing to care for us...... ;D ;D

Thanks everyone. We're VERY proud. She's worked hard.

All kidding aside, Marigold. We sort of had the same motive. Several years ago, we sat down and discussed her future, and being that the largest generation is now reaching retirement age, we came up with Nursing. IMO, not only do the "Baby Boomers" feel entitled, they have the most expendable income to pay for medical care, and they will. Generation X is smaller, and lets politely say "less motivated". In reading the "want ads", the medical feild is wide open, and in desperate need. It seemed an obvious choice.
We discussed the options of being an MD, but with the cost of mal. prac, insurance, equipment, payroll, and employee insurance, why? Too many $$$'s going out, and too much stress. There will always be a need for competint nurses. One area of the field is called "Traveling Nurseing". Where hospitals pay a specific contract time, more times than not, housing, perdiem's, and bonuses. Annual incomes can reach up to $100k!!!

Other than that we haven't givin' it much thought. ;)

Congrats, RD. I can't believe that none of your fine brothers and sisters on this board, after reading of your daughters 3.9 GPA, commented on her smarts coming from the wife's side of the equation...  ;)

My wife has been a nurse for 15 years, and loves it. She tells me that all jobs are either kissing Cranberries or wiping them, and I can't say I disagree.  :o
