Going on a year with my X

I've had my X for almost a year now. I'll probably have 14,000 miles on it on my anniversary.
The first bike I ever owned, the 2nd bike I ever rode. I rode my brother's bike around the block once.
I jumped feet first onto one of the biggest bikes on the market.
Dropped it the first and second Saturday I had it. I took the safety course about 5 weeks after I got the bike and haven't looked back. Haven't dropped it since. Stupid, correctable mistakes.
I can't read enough about, or look at enough bikes to bore me. Just like women, I love em all. Every make and model, chrome or not. My wife laughs at me every time somebody rides by. She says I almost get whiplash trying to see what they are riding.
I don't know who it is, but somebody's signature says, "One twist of the wrist and my life was changed forever". That has happened to me, and I'm loving every minute of it.

I've had mine four years, and that's the longest I've ever kept a bike. I've never enjoyed one as much as my X; it's definitely a keeper.

I will have had mine for a year at the end of next month. I hit 13,000 miles today. About the same story, the first street bike I have owned. Doesn't get any better.

Note: This thread is resurrected. It's last post before this was May 21, 2006..
.
Our 1 year together was on the 7th (and I forgot...
) So I am taking her to the dealer for a few days at the spa for Valentine's Day. She needs the 12,000 mile service anyways...

I've had the Iron Mistress 4 years now. I don't ride as much as I would like, just stupid stuff like making a living getting in the way. I will most likely add another to my stable soon, but the X stays. My only problem with the bike is that she wants to be rode more. In 4 years the only problem was a loose battery cable.

I've had mine for 4 years. Rode it for a year, then it had to sit and wait for me for 2 years. Got 41,000 miles on it. I ride unless I can't. The biggest problem I've had with it was my ex wife.
Other than that it's been minor stuff. I love it!
By the way Raymond, how's that little girl of yours?

I believe in 3 months it will be 5 years for me. I've really enjoyed the bike and plan to keep it as long as possible.
I am also curious to hear about your girl, Raymond.

Wild E, Ya got to wear the proper safety gear. Them loose screws can throw a hitch in your get along. A burr under the saddle, may make them buck harder, free use of the spurs, can help to govern, for lack of one bit of safety gear, there' a bun in the oven.

Tom,
Seeing that I was dealing with a woman I thought the loose screws might help ! The bun in the oven was a trap . I was lucky just had to chew off one arm .Will be gnawing on the leg for several years . LOL Fact is I love that little girl ,she is with downs and will be 8 this year. I will be getting custody of her soon ,she lives with me now anyway .One wouldn't think of a tuff old bird like me as a single dad but I'm doing very well at it , Her close may not always match but she's clean , well fed ,never late for school & always happy.

You done good Wild E. I sort of did the single dad thing with both of my little people now 5 & 6, I was married, and still am to the same woman. She would be gone on 3 to 4 day runs as a railroad conductor while my railroad job was all in town. We spent a ton of money on day care. How we got through those years I will never understand, but we did.
I think I bought the X just to have a way to clear my head on occasion. Had I not bought that bike, the people in the white coats would have thrown a net over me, for running necked down the road screaming.

Somewhere I have a button I had made years ago that says, "She said 'It's either me or that ZX11!' Too bad, I'll miss her."
Make sure you do something nice for your sweetie on Valentines day.
As for our wives and girlfriends... MAY THEY NEVER MEET!
