Motorcycle Riders Club of America - Ever Heard of It?
« on: April 13, 2007, 04:18:34 PM »

Got their big sales pitch in the mail today, for only 12 bucks year, I get all kinds of benefits and supposedly get free products from vendors to test and then keep.  My rule of thumb has always been, "If it sounds to good to be true, it is".

There is such a thing if I'm not confusing it with something else. I seen it didn't join it although they do things to promote motorcycle awareness. Like I said if it is the same one. I'm not sure. I will try to find the link.

I joined earlier this year...paid $24 for 2 years.  I've already received my first two issues of Rider magazine, but haven't received my free rainsuit yet! I signed up for the free product testing, but I haven't received anything free yet. I think I read that it is based on seniority, or something.  They spelled my last name wrong on the membership card they sent to me.  I sent it back asking for another one, but haven't received it yet.

If the magazine is of good quality, that in itslef could be worth the 12 bucks a year.

I didn't see anything about a discount on insurance, but I'll check into it.

Th magazine is good so far.  The issue I have right in front of me has "Power Touring: 2007 Honda VTX1800T" on the cover, and they did a comparison of the VTX 1300 vs. the 1300 V Star.  They slightly chose the V Star because it was a softer ride, according to them.

I ran a BBB search on them.  The name did not come up, but the address did under another name, North American Membership Group Inc.  Apparently this is a umbrella organization that runs a dozen or so businesses that list them all as clubs, anything from fishing to cooking and so on.  MRC did not come up, but maybe because it is a new group.  As far as the parent company goes, they had a satisfactory rating.  I may go ahead and try it out.

I use HRCA for the tow service, it little peace of mind on the road.  The mag is fairly good and you can take the MSF course and they will reimburse you for it.  Plus, I get some kind of free tool each year.  I got a multi-tool one year and two Roadgear digital pressure gauges.  There are some other benefits I have never used, but I do use the discount at the Stealer.  You know the one where they give you 10% off if you belong to a MC affilition after the marked it up 15%.  Yeah that one.
