I bought a modified drive from Showtime56 in St Louis.  The bike runs like a bat out of hell, but my fuel usage has gone up and mileage has dropped.  I just can't seem to keep from abusing the throttle for those jack rabbit starts ;D.  It is well worth the time and money!  Highly recommended!

I put the 1300 gear box on my 1800 last weekend. It is really nice for cruising and 1st and 2nd
are much better now. Not sure if faster, but much more pleasant for cruising. You run lower RPMs
so I suspect gas mileage to be better, but you have to remember your speed and odometer read differently with 1300 gears on. They say you are reading 6 or 7 miles fast on speedometer with 1800 gears, and now will read 2 or 3 miles slower than actual speed with 1300 gears. I like it so far, but
might decide to go back to 1800, for top in speed, and if I do will sell 1300 gear box.

Interesting, I have not heard that many good things about this mod. I think I will continue watch before I switch.

Now you have me totally confused. How is it that you're running taller gears and have lower rpm when cruising but have lower top end speed? How is that possible?

It won't pull redline in fifth with the taller gearing; the 1800 final drive is geared for the 1800's power.

My riding buddy put 1300 gears on his 1800. We rode several hundred miles the other day. Cant say that I felt a whole lot of big differance. I did notice that when in 5th gear I wasn't looking for a 6th as I often do. We race to over 110 and both stayed neck and neck so I can't say that it slowed his bike down any.

the actual gear ratio's for each bike are as follows     3.1 (1800)  2.8 (1300)
by having the 1300 gears you do raise your top end potential, by how much couldn't tell you.
it will just take longer to get there than it takes the 1800 gears to get to thier top potential. the number means the driveshaft turns approx. 3.1 or 2.8 turns, depending on gears, to 1 turn of the drive wheel. thus you can see how with the 1800 gears you're going to wind up the rpm's quicker. this is good for torque but bad for top end. exactly opposite for the 2.8 gears.

have had this on my 1800 for awhile and i like it O0 correcys my speedo, and cruises nicer on the long haul. did loose low end, have to down shift to get up to speed faster, but i like the trade off, did not effect my fuel mileage that much light still comes on in the 100-120 miles, depending on how much fun i'm having with the throttle ;D ;)
