sounds like a good idea as a lot of us (me included, big time) don't want to do the work on our own bikes.  you'd have to look at the numbers closely for margin to profit, but with the number of bikes growing rapidly on the roads, folks having less time to spend on maintenance, you might be on to something.

IMHO you would not be able to hire certified technicians to do the job cheaply and make any kind of a profit. Routine maintenance sounds easy, but there are differences between the different motorcycles that would require techs who are familiar with any bike likely to come into the shop. How many of you are aware that an oil change on a HD requires draining and filling three different sumps? How many could jump right in on, say........ an Aprilia and perform a "routine maintenance"? How many MV Augusta or Moto Guzzi oil filters will you keep in stock? How many different spark plugs for a Ducati can you justify stocking?

Not knocking the concept, just not sure the logistics are feasible.

Tire changes? Maybe even keep a few in stock?

In defense hiring 1 certified tech is a good thing but look at all the quick lube places or even the local brake and tranny shop most of there workers are shadetree mechanics(damn good ones) but most places offer an apprenticeship program to pay for a portion of certification test after a period of hands on in the field. IMHO opening a place for motorcycles is a great idea due to the high volume of bikes here. if you have ever been to honda in fort worth you know what i mean when i say their people skills need alot of work.
the trick is advertising and location.
