Now that I've been officially declared a 'Rider', I'll give you the skinny on the mount. RD, the one you got from HDL was made by German Pete, distributed by HDL. No longer made. What a shame. I'm working out of my garage with 'primitive' tools. I'm looking into less expensive stainless to make it worth my while and yours too. If I were to sell these as is, I'de have to get $20 just to break even on the steel. In my opinion, its not worth that much because its just polished stainless not even chrome. All that plus I've got a wife, 4 kids, a motorcycle and work shift work. I think they call that 'a life'. Let me do some thinking and some checking.

I don't diagree with you one bit. Just didn't know if you new where the others came from, or what they were selling for. Nothing implied. Your looking at a 1 off situation, and it's going to be more costly. I've discussed this plate with several people that work in fabrication, and for 1 reason or another, none known to me, they wouldn't take up the gauntlet and run with it. I have one. If I didn't, and if it wasn't available, but only through you, I'd pay $30 = $35 just to have it, knowing what I know now. I don't think anyone would begrudge you making some money on them for you time.

I knew I had seen it before but couldn't find a pic of it anywhere. I finally dug it up on the national board. I'm not giving up on it yet. I just can't believe Pete doesn't make them any more.

Claw,

I agree with the comments posted; there is a Market out there.  I don't know what happen with German Pete but if you decide to sell them check out his story first.

I was at the Pasadena dealership a couple a weeks ago and saw one of German Petes products and your look pretty close to what I saw.

The owner of the bike told me I could get one from HAL and I looked but could not fine one.

Long story made short $30-$35 seems like a fair price

does anyone know what material Pete was using (what gauge?) i know there was some problem with the ear breaking or cracking. I know, I know, not everyone broke or cracked  ::), but if Robert is going to make these, lets learn from history. and be on the safe side.

DITTO. (except I have 2, one on the bike and one spare)

And yes, I think many of them cracked and/or broke off. The one on my bike is cracked bad and will break off soon if I don't weld it up.  I don't weld stainless but my uncle does, so I'll probably take it to him soon.

I think that may have been me and I said I got it from HDL not that they still had them at HDL......if it was not you it was someone else that was asking about it ;)
Funny thing is the Pasadena dealership tried to buy a run of them from Pete after seeing mine (back when he was in business) and he never followed up with them after I got them in touch with him. :P

I paid $10 bucks for mine from HDL when he first came out with them.......no cracks yet 8)

Here's the actual TX law on Inspection Stickers:

TRC ยง548.255.

ATTACHMENT OR PRODUCTION OF INSPECTION CERTIFICATE.

 The department shall:

require that a certificate for a motorcycle be attached to the rear of the motorcycle near the license plate
