My dad was a Postal Policeman for 25 years. Basically they are in charge of anything involving mail, i.e., stealing mail, illegal stuff mailed, customs stuff. My dad worked at the main postal hub in Chicago, and they also had juristriction (sp?) of the local community surrounding the hub. They have all the abilities that regular police have, but like Hipshot said, they are Federal Agents.
Yeah, they don't get a lot of glory or headlines, but they work hard and their work benefits us all. We just never hear about it.
