I guess all cops aren't bad.
« on: November 29, 2006, 06:44:14 AM »

At 6:00 last night I decided to go for a ride. Part of the ride was on 418 between Silsbee and Kountze. At this time of the evening there isn't much traffic once you get out of Silsbee. It has some sweeping turns and a stretch that is about 2 miles long and straight as an arrow.
Well, there was no cars except for one that got behind me after I left town. I was doing 70 to 80 and this car was staying with me. Not crowding me but staying right with me. Well, when I got to the straight away there was still no other cars, so I ran it up to around 100.  :) The car fell back. But when I slowed to 70 it got back close.
As I got to the light at 69 in Kountze and looked in my mirror to see what was behind me, it was a Hardin County Sheriff Dept. car.  :-\
I couldn't understand why he had not pulled me over. Then I thought, well, he is going to wait and pull me over in the middle of town to make a statement.
As soon as I turned, he went to the outside lane, passed me and never slowed down. He turned on 326 and went towards the Kountze courthouse.
The guy could have made life really miserable for me had he chosen to. I never got a look at him so I have no idea what he looks like. But I owe him a great big thanks!

99% of all the cops out there are good folk and just trying to do their job.  Maybe he was a motorcyclist, too.   O0 Maybe he just figured you weren't a threat or danger to anyone else on that road that night.   ;) Maybe he was at the end of his shift and said to hell with it.   ;D  Maybe he didn't have a radar gun in his car....

It's nice to get away with it though, isn't it?   ;D

Trust me, it's rare for me to get away with anything. I'm usually a ticket magnet.  ;D

Actually Jim that is my retirement plan for right now. Blue colar crime and a straight to club Fed and retirement ticket. Hope they don't force me into early retirement. If they will let me do it my way I'll be old and shriviled up and hopefully not desirable to the men that are men.  :-\

I had a fantastic ride up and back. There was very little traffic. I rode 69 to 175 to 75 and then Bethany in Allen. Are you familiar with Bethany Street?

Maybe it was the motorpool mechanic, test driving it after the oil change to listen for any new knocks, on his way back from Sonic (with a burger) and 7-11 (with a six pack). ;)

Watch out Dusty, three years ago I got a ticket in the mail for going 99 in a 70! Cop never stopped me either, he was in a unmarked. I didn't even know he was a cop. Took it to court, they met me in the Justice of the peaces office before trial, told me he had a prisoner in the car he was escorting and that is why he didn't stop me as they aren't allowed to make a traffic stop while escorting. The  end result was 335 in fines and it wouldn't go on my record if I didn't get another ticket in the next 9 months, or go to trial by jury as I had requested. I paid!

That don't work like that here in Hardin County. If he couldn't stop me, he might have pulled up beside me and shot me off the bike. Us hillbillys don't play that technical crap.  ;D

How long was the sentence going to be....just in case?  :-\

Not sure about a sentence... The cop (no evidence on the outside) came flying up behind me when I was going around a semi on I30. I figure he was doing about 100 or so. I shot the gas to it and pulled my bike over in front of the semi, figuring the speeding car was passing by. He pulled in right behind me, slowing down to do so (I know now that was to get my license) and I shot him the finger and gassed it up to about 105 on my speedo getting away from the apparent idiot.  That was on my way bowling Thursday night. Sat. I got a ticket in the mail from the J.P. I went in that Monday, told them I would take it to court, Eight months later I got notification of the court date. 99 in a 70 AND changing lanes w/o a signal. I use mine all the time, so I guess I musta' forgot when I was gettin' the hell outa his way. The asst DA  offered me the deal I took to keep it from going to a jury trial, which is what I was requesting.

Hey Bill, The sherif's around her are alot nicer than the city Cops.  They are also nice in Marbel Falls.  The last time I ran 1431 coming from I35, just before Marbel Falls coming out of the last set orf curves me an another guy was running about 80, the Sherif flashed his lights and the siren and as we went by he waved his hands down as to slow down.  We just kept on going and he did the same in the opposite direction.  Their are some Good Polic officers out there.
