My first thought was, "Has this guy considered if what ever he's getting pulled over for, is worth the price he could pay for running."  Then, when the cop decides to ensure that he's caught the runner, I thought, "WTF?" >:(

The cop seemed to respond to him as if he were a suspect in a armed robbery or shooting. Curious lack of sound during the first minute or so of the tape. Too bad we didn't get more of the story! Hmmm, motorcycle "pit" manuevers... Do they teach that in school?

"I will kill you. do you understand that?"
"you're gonna get shot if you move, buddy."

"are you hurt?"

wel let's see, officer, you rear-ended me three times during that chase. I think I deserve a freakin' medal for keeping it up that long.

that was nuts.

I'd like to have seen what happened to the bike at the end. It didn't look good.

I think the guy got what he deserved for not stopping. Maybe he will think twice next time before running.

Unbelievable sequence. At the beginning it sounds like the dispatcher said the liscense plate number matches a stolen vehicle but it's hard to tell for sure.

Yeah, I couldn't understand the radio traffic clearly either. It sounded like "suspect's vehicle" in the beginning of the pursuit, and they thought (or knew?) he was armed. That could lead to a lot of different conclusions; we need more info. The guy was obviously very desperate or very stupid; there's lots of both out there. If deadly force was indeed called for (and it may well have been -- we don't know at this point) then the pursuing officer, who had no backup, did a good job. Even if that's the case, the prostitutes will be screaming to the jury that it should have been a TV takedown, with the suspect holding hands with the arresting officer on the way back to the car. It'd be interesting to know what was behind the pursuit.

I just played it a second time. It sounded like the pursuing officer was shouting, "Put the gun down" as he approached on foot.

Years ago when I worked for the Sheriff's office I was chasing a stolen CBR. Three times he pulled over, then took off as I got out of my car. I had a reserve riding with me that night, and I told him that the next time the turd pulled over I wasn't going to stop; I went by slow enough for the reserve to dive out of the car and tackle the guy. I wish I could have video'd that one, it was great. We were probably doing 20mph when that reserve dove out and hit the turd in the back; damned near broke him in two. The reserve landed on top of the turd and the bike, and didn't get a scratch.
