Centerstand For VTX???
« on: November 17, 2006, 01:37:37 AM »

Does anyone know if an aftermarket center stand is available for a 1300S? I thought I saw one on an 1800, just wondering if there is such a thing out there...

RIVCO makes one, don't remember the price, but it was higher than I thought it oughta' be! not sure if it'd fit the 1300. Theyd be the ones most likely to have one though.

I don't see one in my Rivco catalog for the X's.  Closest is for the Valk @ $319.95, or VT1100 @ $298.95.   rivcoproducts.com

The centerstands for the 1800 were going for about $340.00 on HDL. They aren't showing them anymore either. I guess maybe they didn't sell real well at that price! ;D Rivco probably D/C'd them! I know most people that did buy them said they really liked them...of course, if I paid that much for one...I'd probably have to lie too! ;D

PepsX- I'm not sure if your stand really qualifies as a center stand since you have to take the jack with you to make it work right!!!  Gets kinda cumbersome. LOL

I believe he meant he is going to be making one soon possibly, Pacrat!
Here is a shot of the centerstand on the 1800 from the rivco site, although the picture was mainly taken to promote their footstand "shoe" that raises the stand up and doubles the surface area. I understand the "shoe" raises the stand between 1/2 to 3/4 inch. Interesting little piece.

Evidently they are no longer manufacturing the ones for the 1800, and had never produced one for the 1300 that I know of. They made a handle that sold with the 1800 model that mounted to the shock bolt so you could put one hand on the handlebars and one on the shock handle to balance it when backing it up on the stand. Kinda' like the old system Honda used in the 70's and 80's.

yep, it wasnt too bad to pull the ol honda 350 up onto the center stand, but when you talk about an 800 lb VTX, thats a different story. and who want that handle sticking out the side of their bike?

True Dan, but in my case, I wouldn't need it to but release the pressure (weight) off the back wheel, whereas the old stands raised the bike up about three to four inches. A curved foot leading up to the bottom "feet" could be made so the stand "rolled" up onto the centerstand. Let's face it...to take off a wheel on my retro, one or two inches wouldn't let the tire clear anyway. I would just want it to keep the bike upright for little things like turning the wheels while cleaning, filling the radiator box, filling oil...that kinda' thing. Stuff I wouldn't need to go to the trouble of lifting it up with a jack to sit on a peps-X stand.
