Meat Locker - Houston Area
« on: November 08, 2006, 11:24:27 AM »

Does anyone know and/or can recommend a frozen meat locker facility in the Houston area?  I have much more elk than freezer space and need a short term solution until I can fulfill promises I made.  I think I made enough promises to solve my storage problem but need some time to make distribution.

If anyone has a huge, chest type freezer for sale, I would probably be interested

Thanks!

Pete

About 5 150 gallon ice chests full.  I think about 500 pounds or so, although one person said more like 600-700 pounds.  I don't believe that since the bull was only 1100 pounds on the hoof.

Thanks!!

So, I take it the sight-in I didn't do was on. Details???????

He was about 120 yards with a herd of cows.  He scored 346.  Closer to the smallest taken than the biggest.  Biggest was a 385.  Saw a book bull but by the time I got in position, I couldn't be sure enough of the shot to take a chance.  That bull was only about 80 yards away.  I hunted the rest of that day with one pissed off Apache.

Saw a lot of bulls, many larger than the one I took on the final day.  Same old story - I got greedy.  Had an 350/360 bull within bayonet distance.  Thought he was going to run over us.  We had to stand up or he probably would have.  He stopped so quickly, his flies came off of him and stuck to us!!!  Then it got gross.  He bugled and snotted on us.  Don't let anyone tell you a rut crazed bull at less than 10 yards isn't huge, loud and stinky!!

Had a blast!!!
