this was an awsome turn out, over PGR 300 bikes. the protesters did show up but were very ineffective. 500 ft is more than a rocks throw down the road. I could hear them shouting, but could not understand what they were saying, so im sure the family didnt even realize they were there.
it was cool to have a police escourt through town, and to see the people in that area line the streets holding flags and signs to support the family.
if you want to see the real side of America, not what the news show, join and attend the PGR events, and support our fallen heros.

Sorry I did not see some of you at the mission Saturday, but, I thank you for coming.  The family was very touched by the outpouring of support for them.

I was in total awe of the number of people that showed up. I too am sorry I missed some of you but The PGR and the authorities did a good job of planning for the numbers and limited space. I didn't hear the protesters but hopefully they got the message that they are wasteing thier time coming to Texas.

On another note, because we chose to leave at 3:30 before the ride to the cemetary I was told by a PGR member that we were being disrespectful. There were some that left before us that could have not cranked thier bikes until they were actually ready to leave and a few others that could have road out a lot more quietly. After hearing that the protesters had left and there were no confrontations except for a verbal exchange between a tv reporter and one of the protesters I sort of felt like the bulk of the mission was complete. I didn't mean to be disrespectful but it was time to go, my puppies were barking.  :'(  My hats off to those of you that remained for the entire service.

Dusty
you do have to admit that a 4 hr service was alot to ask for to keep people hanging around, and after that was a 1-1/2 horse ride to the grave site, some people still had more than an hours ride home, all in all I started out at 8:30AM and got home after 7PM, which is nothing compaired to minicop and hookem, they are my new heros.
I mean no disrespect when we left at 4:30, but it was better than falling asleep in the way home.

Bill, sorry someone made that comment to you.  We realize that some of the people can not wait until the services are over.  We did learn that in future missions, we will try to park those bikes where they can get out easier.  This was our first mission so we ask that ya'll be patient with us.

Pat,

I think ya'll did a great job. I thought it went real smooth considering the number of bikes and the space you had to work with. There was always water available and someone coming by to take the empties.
As for the fellow's comment, he's entitled to his opinion. At the time he had no way of knowing that I was waiting for a hole to be made so I too could get to my bike and leave. I think what may have triggered his comment was more due to some that were leaving weren't being as quiet as they might could have been. That bothered me also. Our leaving wouldn't have been noticed had the service not been disturbed by the noise, if in fact the service was disturbed. I don't know that it was.
It was my first mission also and I really wasn't expecting the service to be as long as it was. I'll know what to expect on the next one.
It would be great if you didn't have to plan for another mission, but I thought it went real smooth.

Bill, I seen alot of guys push their bike out of the parking lot, even onto the street before they started it. I felt that was very respectfull. I didnt take notice of anyone being exceptionaly loud leaving, and by the sound of the service inside, I doubt if it disturbed them at all.

Pat, I think you guys did a great job in handling this event, I thought it went really well. and I too hope i never have to attend another one.
