Anyone Replace Fork Seals and Bushing on the side??
« on: January 21, 2014, 07:09:12 PM »

Wondering if any of you guys do any side mechanic work like replacing fork seals and bushings. From what I understand, dealerships and shops charge quite a bit. :banghead:

you can save youself alot of money if you pull the legs off your self and take them to the dealer that way. Easy to do.

I did that & only saved $100.00, even after I had bought all the parts from the dealer. Was going to try it myself but didn't have the correct tools. The dealer quoted me $300 if I took them the bike, ended up costing me $200 after I had pulled the forks off.
There is a 2 part video on U Tube that shows you how to do it.

You might try to host a tech session, cook up somthing and buy some beer, usually someone who know how to do what you need will show up.
It has worked for me in the past  Worth a try :idontknow:

I'll do it. We can do this one of two ways. You pull the forks and bring them to me or I'll do the start to finish. You'll have to get the seals and oil as the closest dealer to me is about 60 miles round and half the time they have to order stuff. Bring me the tubes and I'll do it for $100., if it's a start to finish then it's $225.

I am going to try to put together a tech session next month. I have to change my fork seals and convert my rear turn signals.  You are welcome to bring yours over.  Fork seals are pretty easy to change.

First weekend of March I will be home, would that work for ya TAZ ???
01 - 02 I don't need much but like to take part and maybe learn me something. I only need to replace oil and maybe check valves, last two times I checked didn't have to touch them at all.
