Riding the Dragon
« on: October 21, 2013, 09:04:40 AM »

On Sunday Wayne and I are leaving for a bike ride in the GA/TN area.  We are thinking of doing the Tail of the Dragon.  Fortunately Wayne's ear is doing lots better now that he got some drugs

For those of you that remember Marc Mercer....we will be linking up with him and Andrea.

Heck, he should have came this weekend.  Some of the stuff I smelt around the camp area would have recovered him.   O0

word has it to ride the Dragon during the week, wall to wall idiots on the weekend. US 421 now called "the Snake" east of Deals Gap is supposed to be a better challenge , more curves and less traffic. Haven't ridden myself but intel from others that have riden both. Have fun , give us a report. :bikerider: :bikerider:

I'm glad I didn't go. Ear and jaw muscles still sore. Not sure I can put on a helmet. But for the Dragon, I'll suffer through.  :bikerider:

Of Course it's dirty. It's hard to clean when the tires keep moving.

So I have finally slowed down enough to post a few pictures of our Smokey Mountain ride last week.  We had a great time linking up with a sailing/MC friend in Atlanta and then adding on Marc and Andrea Mercer (old TXR members) who now live up by the Smokey Mountains.  Marc did an excellent job of showing us some intense and beautiful roads.  The days there were definitely too few.  We have all agreed that this trip will become an annual event for us.

Nice pics.  Traveled through Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia many times, but never made it to the Smoky Mountains.  Looks like something I'm definitely going to have to do.

I have relatives that live in and around Kingsport, Tenn, which is at the foot of the Smokey's to the north. Haven't been up there since the fall of 1977. Need to make that a bucket list ride for sure.
