Concealed Handgun License
« on: September 12, 2006, 07:11:29 PM »

I’m looking to get my concealed handgun license again, which I had when it was first available. Not sure what the costs are for the class and for the license.
Any places on the North to Northwest or Houston/Harris County I should call?

I got mine about 3 years ago. The class was about $100 and the state will get another $140 if memory serves correctly.

Carrying a gun is kinda like carrying a condom... it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.  :D

http://www.handgunclasses.com/

They're out in Baytown and usually hold classes twice a month, you just have to call them to find out when their schedule is because they don't hold classes when there's a gunshow.

Call Bruce Gilchrist at 832/298-4097 (cell) or 936/672-4815 (work). He will take care of you. He is the instructor for the classes at Carter's Country; he also does his own classes. He also rides a Wing. I've known him for years and he's a good guy.

Good idea... Get a group of us and take the class. (Maybe not, Sherri might take some revenge!)  :D

I called Pruett, I know someone who works there. They charge $125 for the class, plus the state is $140. If we could get 4 to 8 people, I'm sure we could get a discount somewhere... :)
I was informed that it's a one day class... When I did it years ago, it was a 2 day class... One day to learn the laws and safety and one day of shooting....

Do they do the whole 9 yards?  That is the passport photo & finger prints & all the other stuff - one stop shop?

I let my CHL expire and need to get it renewed.  So much time has lapsed that I have to start over.

Jerry :)

Not sure... I think you need to get your own photo done... I'm going to call HipShot's bud and see what he has to say.
I agree with you, I rather go to a place that does it all... No worries... :)
