My first breakdown..tool set recommendations?
« on: March 17, 2013, 08:07:24 PM »

After putting gas in... My bike fritzzed out.  No electrical.  Diagnosed a loose battery cable and had to take seat off and tightened it up after pushing my bike to the side.  Any recommendations for a good roadside tool kit and tips when a breakdown occurs?  I'm a relatively new rider, but getting there.

I believe ProMotion sells a decent tool kit in both SAE and Metric for around $50.00, but usually no matter what tools you do have there will aslways be something you need that that kit doesn't have, but it's a good start.  also carry yourself a tire repair kit and mini air pump.  Slime has a good one that is about $30.00.  Also, you may want to bookmark this page on your smart phone or whatever, these are members that are willing to help when in dire need.  They are located throughout this great state of Texas.

Sears also has a good one, nice and compact in a red zipper case. I added vise grips, channel locks, cresent wrench and it pretty much covers the situation. Ditto on the compressor and tire kit.

I heard that Gumbo's toolkit has a flask of elixir. Never know when you might need to self-medicate for a medical emergency like a hangnail, or a bruise from an insect strike.

What? Doesn't everybody carry self-medications for insect bruises?  :c

Of Course it's dirty. It's hard to clean when the tires keep moving.

I got a simular tool kit at Home Depot for a lot less. I also found a shorty cresent wrench and a shorty ratchet. Ditto on the tire repair kit.
