Is it fixable?
« on: February 22, 2013, 07:37:19 PM »

Hi there, folks...
New to the board, got sent here from the OA board.  Someone suggested I may find someone local that may take a look at the damage on my bike, see if it's repairable or just time to junk it an look for the  next ride.
Here's a pic.  '04 1300c.  You can see that the wheel, when pointed straight in front of the bike, is off center (closer to the right fork than the left) AND pointed a different direction from the trees/neck.
Anyone???
Anyone????

Just by looking at the picture your forks are bent.
It looks fixable if the kneck isn't bent.  8)

I hafta say, I thought the forks would be more.  Doesn't it look like I need an axle, too?  Or something?  The wheel is closer to the right side than the left.  That can't be good.

Also, if the trees need to be replaced, then this would be the time to switch to a nice, 8 degree rake, right?  What else do you gotta do when you change the rake?

They have a Triple tree with the rake built into it. ;D
Easy bolt on.

Depends on how much rake you want to go.

Also, aren't there two different size sleeve shims (one slightly shorter than the other) on each side of the wheel that set next to the inside of the forks that the axle bolt goes through.  The forks do look fried but the offset by the wheel doesn't look to be caused by the bent forks.  I have not had the front wheel off the X but I have the Wing & it is set-up this way; just a thought...because my front wheel was offset after changing brake pads.  I looked at it after installing everything and got really mad at myself for not checking thru the process.
Someone correct me or agree...
