Woohoo - New Helmet
« on: December 17, 2012, 01:55:24 PM »

Well, it's time to retire the Nolan for good.  I bought a gloss black Shoei Neotec, but had them order a matte black.  The matte appears to hold up a lot better based on the Nolan.

Took the pic at work.  :D

And it already looks dirty, just like the bike.   :pot: :pot:

Of Course it's dirty. It's hard to clean when the tires keep moving.

Yeah, the gloss was way to clean looking for me.

If you replace your helmet every 6 years, the price of the shoei is not that bad.

Hmm...it might actually be closer to 7 or 8.  I definitely had it in '05.

There's no price tag on protecting that "pretty" face of his!   :stickpoke:   ;D  Actually, that price is not bad, considering I spent $500 on an Arai helmet back in '03 when I bought the X.  This helmet has more advanced features than that Arai did.

Well, my $250 helmet also protects my pretty face, but I do agree that this one has some nicer features...like the ventilation.

A couple of years ago I'd have scoffed at such an expense.  Even today it still hurt, but after wearing it last night I believe it was worth it.  The buffeting is gone and it feels like it's directly attached to my head when I turn to look around.  It just cuts through the air.

I don't typically talk about buying something expensive, but I have so much junk around the house that were just complete failures that I get excited when an item just works.
